My Failing Poem by Trevor McLeod

My Failing

Rating: 4.5

Here I stand once more
looking back at all I have done
more wrong then good
I try I really do
I wish to win your heart
to be the one you are happy with
the one you long to be held by
the one you love

So why is it I only do wrong
causing you so much pain
why can't I do right
why can't I be the one I want to be

Struggling against bonds
bonds created by my own hands
bonds created by the hands of others
why is it this way
I wish to be free
to be able to fly
and be with the one I love

I know with each mistake I draw closer
closer to the day I wake to find
that you are no longer here
that I am no longer your hero
that I am no longer your love
one day closer
one step closer
one failure closer

I am standing on the edge
looking down at the bottomless void
I feel the ground give way beneath me
I want to look back
to see you looking at me
with hope and love in your eyes
but my heart says that when I look back
I will see you
but your eyes will be averted from me
only seeing the new man by your side
which will I see dear angel
will I see your love
or will I see your sadness
as I make mistake after mistake
once more I stand on the threshold
looking at the bottomless cavas
what will I see when I look back angel

This poem really shows your emotion, and I like it a lot. Hope the angel's eyes will still be looking at you - and not other's - when you look back :)
