My Gallery Of Tears - Poem by Lora Colon

I see you had nothing better to do
And decided to come for the tour,
Then please, come in, and you will see
Just how much pain one heart can endure

Before we start, I think I should tell you
For our tears, we must never feel shame,
And they deserve all our pity
To whom deep emotions never came

In this wing, you'll find Tears of Loneliness,
The saddest are in this room of blue,
Through the years, I've added more rooms
As my collection of sad tears grew

As you can see, the labels are varied:
Tears when he left, Tears of missing him,
Tears of nights I dream he'll return,
Tears when I remember kissing him

And here in this black room are all the tears
That were cried with intense, searing pain
When I found the courage to admit
He would not be coming back again

In this little room are various tears......
Tears of Forgiveness, Tears of Regret,
A few of each placed here and there,
Though not one of them helps me forget

I seem to have misplaced my Tears of Joy,
A box so small, I tend to lose it,
I don't care, it just collects dust,
I doubt I'll ever get to use it

Finally, here are the Tears of Pity
Friends have donated over the years,
I spend too much time in this room,
Tears of Pity numb my pain and fears

And with this concludes our tour for today,
When you've nothing to do, please feel free
To come back again, perhaps with a friend,
New tears are added regularly

This really stings me in a personal way, the way its written accepts sadness as something never ending, reading this I feel like you have really bared your soul in this and it comes out in an honest and heartfelt way, its an emotional rollercoaster to get through but its one that feels like I can relate. Your last stanza is heart breaking thank you for sharing, its something that makes me feel not alone. (Report) Reply

Reading this poem made me feel a little weepy myself. The Wesh are reputed to be somewhat emotional so I can relate easily to the subject matter contained in this well written poem. As always great rhythm and rhyme.
Been away for a couple of months but will read more of your recent poems soon.

Yes I agree, pity those who cant feel and empathize.. Tears such a perfect natures gift which converts the metaphysical to physical.. Converts emotions to the expressed visible.. And such a wide range can be ecpressrd. Thanks. (Report) Reply
