I thought of your love, on a mountain high,
As I came up from the desert floor.
I saw your face in the desert sky,
I thought of your love, more, and more.
So many miles from where you lay,
I roamed the southwest all alone.
In the Mojave so far away,
Away from everything, even my home.
I felt the breeze on my mountain top,
And surveyed the world so far below.
Yet my heart would never give you up,
I heard your name as the wind did blow.
Then one day I returned at last,
After all those years away.
And felt my heart thunder in my chest,
When I saw you walking one fine day.
And that was enough, when I saw my heart,
Still standing by your side.
Same as the day I did depart,
My heart to me, has never lied.
