My Life And All That Poem by Phil Soar

My Life And All That

I was never encouraged to think on my feet
I never left home without something to eat
There were holes in my socks as I walked down the street
But I won all my battles as I learnt to compete

I always took pleasure in nothing worthwhile
I always left home with the help of a smile
I spent every minute thinking I has such style
And I thought I was always the top of the pile

I trusted in no-one that I Hadn't met
I never thought twice about placing a bet
I've not fallen foul of a gut mistake yet
And there's nothing I've wanted that I couldn't get

I'm close to my family and time's on my side
There's nothing they do that don't fill me with pride
I feel every day there's so much deep inside
And there's nothing I've done that I might want to hide
