My Love Poem by Jessica Kelly

My Love

oh i love him so much.

he is the one i dance with.
we are the only ones on the floor. everyone is watching. we're moving like kites or wind socks. we don't know what we're doing. but we look so good together. and we feel so good together. and we don't care about anyone else in the room.

he is the one i sleep with.
he takes up most of the bed. i steal the covers. our feet are so cold that we make each other jump.(the first birthday card i gave him was 'happy birthday icicle toes.') and the nights we don't sleep in the same bed, we don't sleep. well, we might sleep, but our dreams are not near as sweet.

he is the one i scream at.
i do not mean more than half the things i say, but he knows that. he understands that i may be a little crazy, but he loves me that way.

he is the one i laugh at.
he is the one that so many people laugh at. he's got that way about him, that way that so many people wish they had. he brings a smile to the frowner and a laugh to the mourner. his drawn out jokes usually lose the punch line. the others may not laugh. but i always do.

he is the one i laugh at, cry with. he is the people pleaser. he is the young man sitting at the old man's bar*. he is the bright star in the dull sky and the geyser in the desert. he is my rock. he is my soul. my love. my life.

i miss him. i miss him so much.
