My New Year's Resolution Poem by Patricia Denise Newman

My New Year's Resolution

I made a promise to myself
That when the year was through
I'd be a little lighter
By at least a stone or two

But as the year continued
My promise I forgot
And several cakes and scones and sweets
We're adding to my pot

So this year sees me promise
To try to lose this weight
I'll set myself another goal
And a realistic date

Last year I pledged to improve myself
But as you can clearly see
My resolution failed again
There's still too much of me.
