My Only Fear Poem by RIC BASTASA

my only fear in life
is to live that long enough
when i become no longer a
news, to you, sad or happy,
when i no longer matter
as part of your diary, when
you have already gone and
i am left still counting the days
of my exact departure, but i
of course know, that it is not
possible that we leave together,
i think, i am always destined
to be left alone
taking care of all the mess
that you are leaving and i say
'no problem', i can manage,
i am used to all these musings.
