My Only Friend Poem by Randy McClave

My Only Friend

You, I will always defend
Until the bitter end,
Upon me you can always depend
You are my only true friend.

I had thought I had a friend before
Whom I had loved to the very core,
Them I truly did adore
Now they are a friend no more.

I still speak for them in a prayer
For them I was always there,
But, now I must be cautious and beware
For them I once did truly care.

I once had a friend I had thought
Now they are not,
I was the one who had gave and bought
Their friendship I had sought.

I had a friend who was also my mate
To help I never did hesitate,
They were my pal for whom I would wait
Because of them, I did celebrate.

As I now look into my mirror
As I now wipe away another tear,
I again say this as a whisper to the ear
You are the only trusted friend that I have here.
