My Parents Poem by Phil Soar

My Parents

My parents never took me out, to see that dental fellow
And now my teeth have turned a kind of yucky mustard yellow
They also didn't take me to the optician down the street
And now I can't see past my nose, or even see my feet

I wouldn't say that they were bad, they just were always busy
The slightest thing their children needed sent them in a tizzy
So they just drifted on in life, and never gave a shit
It's funny but it changed my life, and now I'm so unfit

As I grew old, and married, I remembered mum and dad
And even though they were both dumb, they never made me sad
And now my own kids have their teeth and are always in good health
I thank the lord each morning, as that's more than any wealth
