My Perfect Desire Poem by Samantha Stough

My Perfect Desire

My perfect desire

Seems worthless nowadays

I must have succumbed

To my own lazy ways

My yearning once constant

Has been suspended in space

I can’t keep trying to remember something

When it doesn’t leave a trace

Dismissive and numbing

Is my selfish defense

It hides the fact that never got what I wanted

Masks everything about me that doesn’t make sense
