My Poems, Sweet Songs Poem by Mohammad Younus

My Poems, Sweet Songs

My poems, sweet songs,
Singing birds and blooming smiles,
Vivid hues and intricate designs,
Wisdom that withers not, nor wanes—
Like the winter sun that casts
Half my life in shadows of illusions,
While spring's bright rays
Illuminate the part of me
Still cloaked in soot and dark.
Sunlight and darkness—my life visages.

Like rustling chinar leaves
And swaying grass blades,
Glittering with dewdrops,
The divine light falls upon my cheeks
And spreads gently in my eyes.
My soul waits for his flight—
the index finger toward the skies,
Singing his rhymes.
