My Resume To A Prospective Love Poem by Michael Fischer

My Resume To A Prospective Love

Hello, I'm Michael

I'm a poet
psychonaut
and philosopher

I wear a pen(dant) around my neck

And
carry a manifold of notepads and books

With me

(For the untimely arrival
of cosmic
Creativity)

I expand {compressed} minds and hearts

And airbrush
the voids of memory

I unfasten people's potential

And ask
for nothing in return

I seek challenge and euphoria
(conjointly)

But never a fight
(unless its the good fight)

But I'm not without flaw
(or inconsistency)

Sometimes
my mind outweighs my heart
and vice versa

(But I'm always the first to apologize)

And I accept my imperfections
(they're a part of me)

And I like who I am
(and who I'm becoming)

And no matter what happens

I will get out of bed
every morning

And laden the chip on my shoulder
with love

And if you don't accept me
I'll be understanding

(For I'll know that)
your acceptance isn't tantamount

To my happiness

(And perhaps)
we'll both look back and share a laugh

No matter what the distance is between us!
