My Retreat Poem by Cynthia Buhain-baello

My Retreat

This sight that is hidden in my mind
Refreshes the heart and the wearied soul,
Aqua blue skies in the warmth of sunlight
Can always revive and make one whole.

Soft rustling leaves stirred by the breeze
Are songs of tranquility that surround,
Gentle as a lullaby, I find sleep to seize
With eyes closed, to good rest I'm bound.

The turbulence of affairs in this world stress
Vexing the spirit inside with concerns.
When I'm overwhelmed by so much distress,
I retreat to this scene to which my heart yearns.
