My Sake Poem by Donald R Wolff JR

My Sake

Rating: 5.0

A wish I wish before a prayer
Just encase no god is way up there
What I see are wishing stars
So why is god so ever far

Say your prayers and go to bed
Out loud, I must, not in my head
If I should die before I wake
No need of 'gods' my soul to take

Say a prayer before your bed
God blessed the living and the dead
It is nice to see so many stars
For when life ends, still they are

Twinkle Twinkle while I lay
I wish again to never pray
For what I see is what you are
Maybe god is the monster in the dark

Look away, and never stare
God is in the closet over there
Under the bed or while I sleep
Watching little girls have bad dreams

Afraid I am if I don't pray
So many do, die anyway
So star' I wish for my own sake
That when I sleep, again I wake
