My Selfish Dream Poem by Stephen Price

My Selfish Dream

I love my life with my family and friends
It’s such a shame that one day it all ends
That we’ll all depart in our various ways
And not all as one in a blinding white haze

Losing anyone so close would be so hard to take
It would take part of my life, kill the reason I wake
Their very being just comforts my soul
That life without one, would be life on the dole

Now my family and friends are spread far and wide
And there’s not enough time, I cannot decide
Where I should be at any one time
I want them all with me, is that such a crime?

So in my dream we’re all in the same place
And we’re all chatting and laughing and hate has no face
We just live for each other and love is our friend
It’s a dream I hold on to, I won’t let it end.
