My Spirit Poem by Edward Kofi Louis

My Spirit

Oh my spirit,
Be thou like myself;
And like a star to quicken a new birth at the Rhine.
Give ear to me when i speak for,
Life is very swift and timeless over here;
So make me like the Elb River to sleep at last.
Oh my beloved night, i do ask of thee;
And of your beauty and your chivalry,
But the eve before was like the Danue River.

To reflect aback to your blushes and,
To think of my spirit at last;
But i will not leave thee oh my sweet Alster.
Your eyelids are very heavy and red,
But your lovers are still sleeping around your waters;
And my spirit is like a gallant merchant-ship sailing.

Of those flowers made of light and,
Of the walk along your banks that cost a meal;
But i still do remember the home that i was born to,
For one short hour was like this little joy with your muse.
