My Teacher - Poem by Hasmukh Amathalal

I loved my teacher
As preacher
Who could guide me till end?
As philosopher and friend

He was elderly person
Straight forward man with noble reasons
His aim was to part with knowledge
To right persons of any age

He could spot some hidden talent
His eyes were quick enough to find trend
I was not quick but honest to pick
He used to show me sometimes stick too

He was generous and affectionate
I could find many of his steps to relate
He was less of teacher than father
I was always impressed with his offer

He will give me some sweets
Call me with affection ad n greet
This led me to believe in tolerance
Preserve the skill and show when get chance

He will leave many loop holes
For me to decide with opposite poles
He will present me with alternatives
And warn too to find in selective manner
