My Teacher A Child Poem by Edmund V. Strolis

My Teacher A Child

Little thing let me help you to your chair
No more idly waiting by the window
I will rescue you from the top of the stairs
Let's explore this land down below

Your frail look is deceptive to all but me
I see the strength in your curious smile
You loom large in a world that refuses to see
You are my teacher and I am the child

A flickering flame in the darkest of nights
Your passion for life fills my once empty soul
A world of possibilities comes alive by your side
You showed me how to live by just letting go

Your light shines so bright that I can't help but cry
Tears of joy fill my eyes when I listen to you
Your thrill for living makes me stop and wonder why
We continue to do all the foolish things we do
