My Tears Poem by ScarlettRose Patterson

My Tears

Rating: 5.0

My tears have fallen for them
Their tears have fallen for each other
They pool together, forming an ocean
A reflective glass of never forgotten memories

As I peer into these sacred waters
Images of death and sorrow fill me
Children dying from disease
Men and women realizing there's no hope
Accepting fate to erase them of their existence

Endless dirt grounds
Feet walking forward, but coming to no end
Little food, little warmth
Heros giving up their lives for the sake of young ones
And I walk alone, a survivor

These memories have forever haunted me
My heart hollow to the offenders
My heart brimming with grief for the victims
Even after all those long years ago
I still stare up at the moon
The same moon that looked upon us
During that time of despair and anguish
The moon reflected in the water
The water of my tears

I hope that those whose lives were taken
Will be remembered for the horrors of those days
How we were kicked from our homes
Forced to walk the path of West
Losing hope for the sick and unstable
Clutching the very last of our resources and praying
Praying with our hearts
Letting our message travel with the tears in my eyes

There could be several ways to read this- but I am seeing the immigrants fleeing from cruelty and poverty, trying to find a better life for their children. Excellent piece. 10

I think your interpretation might be right, Susan. What about it, ScarlettRose?
