My Temptations Poem by Randy McClave

My Temptations

From temptations I'm not exempted
I still am always tempted,
Wherever I am abroad or in this nation
I am always compelled to temptation.
Whenever I am ever in a different land
I am always led by the temptress hand,
Where I am led to I do not ever really know
But, my wonder and it's trap does always grow.
My first temptation of course is sweets
Sugar and candy are better than soups and meats,
They truly could become my every meal
They are my start of my day, my cereal.
My other temptation is of course the female
But, sadly they have sent me to both heaven and hell,
When I meet a beautiful one I want to marry
Over the threshold them I want to carry.
There is something about a woman I can't explain
With her smile and beauty there's also the pain,
So, unto God nightly a special prayer I do pray
To please keep that temptation out of my way.
My favorite temptation I must say of course is this
Eating fine foods is a total bliss,
To eat the finest cuisines wherever that I am at
Would make me happy, even if I got fat.
I love the foods of different countries and their cultures
I enjoy them as many enjoy seeing sculptures,
And trying new foods I am always eager to try
My mind and my palate I need to always satisfy.
But, then if my world you had to unravel
My temptations could all be pinpointed upon my travel,
If I didn't ever traveled either here or there
For fine foods or sweets I would not really ever care.
Pizza, hamburgers and chicken would be my meals
Fine foods or restaurants there be no appeals,
And for sweets and the candy
I would just buy what was nearby and handy.
If not for my travels I would had been married one time less
Not to see another wife in her wedding dress,
Less women I surely would have dated
Less times I would have been used, tricked and hated.
I look at the many temptations that have entered my life
Which brought me temporary joy and happiness, but later strife,
Temptations was indeed created by the Devil
Now when I meet temptations, I no longer revel.
