My Trial Poem by Mehreen Mujeeb

I’m sorry I asked you to care,
I guess I asked too much.
All I wanted was for you to be there;
On my side
Not their’s.

I guess you never saw my tears.
You never realised my heart
You got blinded by everything
Other than the tears that stream down my face.

I tried everything
I tried silence;
Forgiveness;
Ignorance.
Nothing makes me feel you care
I don’t know what to feel.

I guess you cannot see
How much I have to tolerate.
Just to give you a chance;
Give time a chance.
Yet you never see right through me.

I never wanted to feel like a burden
On someone I love.
But I can’t bear these feelings anymore
I’m more scared than I ever used to be.

I know I’m like rain that keeps falling.
I can never force the sun to come out.
I’m sorry I feel this way.
I’m sorry I feel this pain.
