My Trials Poem by Hannington Mumo

My Trials

Could my trials be no good?
For I feel I lack much spiritual food,
That the Calvary tree offered me;
The sweet and eternal cake I cannot see!

My sinful sprees shall ever give pain,
And my staunchest trials are vain,
Sins I did and sins I'll do;
But I know that forever I was saved by you!

Thus despite my heap of sins,
All my coveting behind the scenes;
My lusting after beautiful maids;
And my engagements in sinful trades;
All was taken at the blessed tree
Why the blessed Christ died for me!
