My True Self Poem by Namita Rani Panda

My True Self

I cry out in pain
as the sky showers the rain
but they laugh at me saying,
"How silly is this woman!
She doesn't know how to happy-wash her pain."

I burst out in anger
just like a stormy thunder
and they laugh at me saying,
"How childish is this woman!
She is unable to dress her indignation with a silken pretention."

I speak out the truth I've seen
as pure as platinum
but they laugh at me saying,
"How foolish is this woman!
She isn't tactful to cloak her version with a gaudy
sophistication."

I fight for my rightful rights
like a shining star in stormy nights
but they laugh at me saying,
"How crazy is this woman!
She has not trained her wishes to embrace the age old
traditions."

Happily I burst out in laughter
like a gurgling and crashing river
and they laugh at me saying,
"How shameless is this woman!
With a beauty queen smile she is unable to mask her laughter."

But I am happy with what I am
with my most natural expressions,
though in a crowd I stand all alone
despised by all as a standing fun
I keep the child in me alive forever
and let it paint all my expressions with natural colours.
