My Trinket Box Poem by Namita Rani Panda

My Trinket Box

My trinket box
Of which I would never like to make an undue fuss
Is neither made of porcelain, wood or ivory
Nor is it studded with quartz, jadeite, opal or any gemstones.

My lovely jewellery casket
That is safely hidden in the secret chamber of my chest
With red and blue veins like vines with floral designs of Ruby and Sapphire
With the inner linings of slick satin love and care
To preserve carefully the precious possession, so lovely and rare!

My unique austere chest
Keeps me warm in my chilly winter
And a cool shady bower in my scorching summer
That fondly holds not the ornaments of diamond, gold or silver
But your loving wish,
My priceless treasure
That, like the sun, is a fountain of warmth for me forever!
