Nature Poem by Edwina Reizer

Nature

I wandered and I came upon
a beautiful clear stream.
It rippled as it moved along,
its rivulets agleam.

I knew not where its path would wind
but followed anyway.
The sun was warm, the breeze so soft,
a most exquisite day.

I sat down on a rock'fore long
and marveled at the scene.
It's then I caught a scent arise,
a scent that was unclean.

And as I traveled on I found
a sight so hard to bear,
pollution from some industry
from some who do not care.

The little stream had met its fate,
denying what it was.
A touch of greed and indifference
and this is what it does.

It changed the scene dramatically.
It made me want to cry.
For I knew this thing of beauty
was surely going to die.
