Nature Knows 05 - The Balancing Act

Rating: 5.0

It is not my thesis
But, photosynthesis
Sustains life on earth
It is the process of
Cooking sans ‘hearth',
Using up atmospheric
Carbon dioxide, packing
energy into the food
And releasing oxygen.

It is the reverse process
of metabolism of all
(well, almost all) life forms
where food is broken up
atmospheric oxygen used up
carbon dioxide given up
and energy released.

Thus, the levels of oxygen
carbon dioxide and other
components in atmosphere
are maintained, provided
man does not interfere with
the balancing act of Nature.

A meaningful and informative write. Liked the ultimate stanza. It emphasizes the primordial duty of humanity on nature: we must not interfere with the balancing act of nature. A great poem.

Nature automatically attains a balance in short periods to sustain life. But man is bent on vitiating it. Thank you Rose Marie for your kind words

scientists even concluded that life may have begun on Earth in hydrothermal vents far beneath the ocean's surface. Some spores and cocooned bacteria samples have been dormant for more than 40 million years; Life on earth would have since many more millions of years before. But man did not
