Needs Poem by dave lessard

Needs

I've done the yard for the morning
watered...pulled the weeds...
took my early walk
tried to satisfy my needs.
Soon I'll take my shower
cleanse the dirt and sweat, away
air dry on the porch
made sure the dog's okay,
Mundane little tasks
that fill the empty hours
ordinary things
from which I do not cower.
I do the whole damn show
sweep and wash and dust
check the dishes one more time
(my aging eyes don't trust) .
I take the garbage out
collect the cans when done
cut the past bloomed roses
in the morning sun.
There, I think I've finished
I grab a book to read
once more on the porch
ah, this satisfies my need.
