Never Poem by Dorsey Baker

Never

youth it dangers
proudly before your eyes
then it quickly goes away
taking its strength
where it went
you bow your head
and then a salty tear
as you watch
youth as it begins to
disappear
just like the trees
in wintertime
you are now
just as naked
as you can be
and the whole wide world
it can see
that your heart
is so full
of pain
and once you become old
you can never
be young again
