Never Again Poem by angel lockheart

Never Again

I stand outside in the middle of the road,
Right between the two yellow lines
The rain is pelting down on me like bullets,
Drenching my hair
Soaking my cloths
But I can’t feel it
Because you took that from me-
My feelings without a second’s pause
Not caring what you did to me
Not caring that every time you hit me
You hardened my heart

Giving it another layer of armor against you.
Not caring that whatever I did,
However I changed for you-
It wasn’t enough.

Not caring that
The ugly words you hurled at me
Only made me stronger
The lashes you took at me,
The punches you cast
Only made me color on the outside
Not the inside.

When you were finally done
You would call me
Your magnificent work of art
Because of all the colors you’d brought out in me
But in the morning
You’d say I was repulsive-
That it was my fault that I was revolting
That I made you want to throw up
Every time you looked at me.

Lightning slashes through the sky
Making it light up in brilliance
But I don’t see it
Thunder explodes from the heavens
Vibrating through the ground,
But I don’t hear it.
Pictures are forming in my mind-

The joy on your face as you throw me
And the eruption of pain slicing through my shoulder
As it connects with the metal.
The crimson blood gushing from my back
As you whip me with your studded belt.
The laughter flowing from your mouth
As black consumes me.
