Never Alone Perhaps... Poem by RIC BASTASA

Never Alone Perhaps...

if it rains,
ahhhhh, it rains today,
so heavily
making so much noise
on the rooftop
of G.1. sheets,

you go outside
and take your shower
from the rain,
and you feel like what
water is,
flowing, cold, and
soft,

it is a watery self,
dripping,
and you feel like less
than what you are
supposed to be,

you know how it feels
to drip and soak and
sip in, how you lose
yourself in the stones
and in the leaks
of the thirsty earth

how the grasses love
you as part of them now,
inside the veins of leaves,
inside the roots
and into their system,

once again,
you think that you can escape?
ahhhhh, you cannot
you will forever be a part
of this or that,
until you shall be enlightened
and just be
someone inside someone else

a body inside a body,
a soul inside the other soul,
always, a part of this and that,
and never alone,
perhaps.
