Never Forget You Poem by Jenny Molloy

Never Forget You

A year has gone now, but not a day passes by when I don’t think of your old happy ways.
The endless story’s that mam used to tell, the ones that aren’t talked about now.
The laughs and jokes we try holding onto, the pain and tears we try letting go.
We remember the old friends that did appear, and the flowers that they did send.
The messages of sadness that we did reserve, to let us know were not alone.
When I first saw you lying there, as I held my mothers hand, I knew something was missing. It was the ear to ear smile you once had.
The photos that were passed around, one of you in an old work yard.
As the mourners did come in, I sat waiting for the chance you might just wake up.
I held it all in as I said my few lines and sat back in my seat.
I could not take my eyes of you all trough that morning.
The hardest part was saying our last goodbye.
Seeing you for the last time.
Hearing the family cry.
I just could not say goodbye.
Now you are gone and life has to move on.
I will not let the memoirs fade of an unbelievable,
husband, brother, uncle and a friend.
