Broken hearts that fall into pieces,
Can anything else be expected
From something designed
To destroy what is love?
These chains were forged
Day after day,
Generation after generation,
The one family heirloom.
Who will dare to say
These chains we must break,
Shatter them instead,
That the heart may return?
If I did not forge these chains,
Then why should I
Find myself forever doomed
To bear their sentence?
If we are called to pursue good
For those who are sentenced
Should we not also seek it,
For those wearing old chains?
Can we not do different,
Will these hands find it,
Are my feet capable
To carry me home?
