New Mum Poem by Alice Cordy

New Mum

Nearly nine months has past,
Delivery time soon at last.
Time to find out if you're having a boy or girl,
As this baby will be your world.
A gift from heaven above,
one for you to cherish and love.

As a new mum,
lots of wonderful adventures to come.
Cradling your baby in your arms,
only to protect them from any harm.
You'll sing a special lullaby,
one special for your baby.
Who will cherish in his or her sleep,
in their heart and mind to keep.

There's no rule book on how to raise a child,
just remember it will be worth every smile.
There will be tested times,
especially when they learn to climb.
They learn to crawl,
a few knocks and scratches before they'll walk.
They will cry and squawk,
before they'll talk.

A life time memories to love and adore,
so who could ask for anymore.
Two little feet and ten little toes,
goes well with that cute little nose.
Two little hands and ten little fingers,
even though they can be little monsters.
No matter what the outlook,
your baby will have all the looks.
So enjoy motherhood,
as I know you will do good.
