On talk of new year some people jeer
While many others party and cheer
But when it has come
They know they were dumb
But continue to drown in their beer
Interesting limerick and so true. I spent New Year's Eve with three of my siblings and their spouses in the old house where I grew up. We played games and laughed until we cried. We had a keg of ROOT BEER; no liquor of any kind to be found. Then we all drove home, sober and sound.

Since you ask I would smooth out the second line While others may party and cheer first line not standard but works well. All in all an excellent limerick. rates a nine
