Next Door Neighbor Poem by Brendan Duffy

Next Door Neighbor

Rating: 5.0

It started with the touch of your smile
I fought back my feelings for awhile
Time passed on in my secret chamber
The truth - I've fallen in love with my next-door neighbor

Glances turn to lustful stares
I'm jealous of happy coupled pairs
My heart longs to be outside in the open
Showing the world who I'm groping

Secrets turn to lies, the truth is blurry
I wana tell people but you say 'what's your hurry? '
I feel like I'm stuck in an affair
Can't give up this far, it ain't fair

Secrets keep our love new
Not many know, just a few
They can see what we have is real
I stand on a table and announce how i feel

She looks at me with embarrassed relief
I know i'm glowing red like an autumn leaf
I don't care she is what i want
We kiss, it feels like a month

This forbidden love, like Romeo and Juliet
Doomed from the beginning but we didn't forget
When i declared to the world my love for my dear
Slipped on the table and got covered in beer

So if your reading this poem and thinking 'what a romantic fool'
Remember one thing lads, always keep your cool
Cause she'll always remember that simple act of courage
And make you breakfast in bed instead of porridge!

I understand your plight completely. Now return.....showing her...the cool dude.... you really are!
