Niggle Poem by Melissa Harkness

Niggle

Niggle
Niggle is a word that is born in the stomach.
It crawls up the spine like a deliberate spider.
Up the water spout
Until it rests between the ears at the back of the brain.
Like the box of old high school memorabilia in the corner of the garage
Half covered with gardening tools,
Begging to be revealed and remembered.
Niggle
Niggled
Niggling
Read
Reveal
Release into consciousness
Resolve
Rain
wash the spider out.
Niggle

Niggle: cause slight but persistent annoyance, discomfort, or anxiety. Doreen wanted to discuss matters that niggled at her mind synonyms: irritate, annoy, worry, trouble, bother, provoke, exasperate, upset, gall, irk, rankle I had to check the meaning of the word 'niggle' and I must confess this is my first time meeting it. The opening lines sounds interesting. I love the personification and the liken of it to the spider. The imagery conveys a discomfort and am sure the rain shall wash it away. Beautiful poem...keep writing!

Niggle is a word that is born in the stomach. It crawls up the spine like a deliberate spider. It captures body and brings anxiety and depression that provokes thought. Amazing poem is shared here.10
