Aeons passed and barriers, crossed,
Memories receded to dusk and night;
World once existed passed to the past,
And my spirit and body, withered now;
Eyes have gone dull, and ears, hear not,
A'thing that reaches me inspires not;
New moon's night enwraps all around,
Horizons all round me blindingly stare,
No glimmer of hope appears anywhere;
In the barren field, in arid huge spread,
Like inviting lake to a thirsty dieing soul,
You smile from North like the Polar Star.
I know you're there, constant, always,
Smiling bright as ever to keep me alive;
Day or night, or full moon, new moon,
Nothing stops you from instilling hope;
But, aeons passed and barriers, crossed,
Memories receded to dusk and night,
And the parch'd night blotted all hopes;
Nothing transform'd our worlds to one,
Nor signs a' where to bridge our bond;
Still in confidence you smile indeed,
But I sink to nought on tatter'd ground;
How long may I bear this ceaseless pain?
You know my pain; I, your strength,
Your bright smile keeps me yet afloat;
Limited is horizons of hope man spread;
Bright smiles you throw oft open up past -
The joys we shared, and fears we dared,
Depthless bond we felt close to each,
And the love and devotion ensheathed us
Beyond Heaven's grasp and coddl'd us -
Each stirs me out to the past's treasure
Amidst the seize of the blinding night;
It's how I find light in night's womb,
It's how I see life stored in grief's depth.
