Night Descending Poem by Anil Kumar Panda

Night Descending

Rating: 5.0

One by one, the birds,
Fall silent inside the nests
One by one, the clouds,
Stop over the hills for rests

One by one, the flowers,
Close petals on the stalks
One by one, the tides,
Fall silent against the rocks

One by one, the stars,
Begin to shed pale light
One by one, the figures,
Begin to vanish from sight

One by one, the owls,
Come out from the holes
One by one, they hoot,
Sitting upon roofs and poles

One by one, the ghosts,
Rise up to roam the land
One by one, they gather,
To sing and dance on the sand

One by one, the hours,
Tick on faces of the clocks
One by one, the rays,
Begin to graze land and rocks
