Nightmares Poem by B.M Lewis

Nightmares

Sometimes, I have dreams.
Not good dreams
Nightmares.
They leave me waking up in the middle of the night
Cold
Sweaty
Shaking
I can’t stop them
I have them sometimes
But they are becoming more often
Sometimes I kill people
Sometimes, I have to leave people behind.
Sometimes, I get left behind.
They get worse
Every night
What do I do?
I can’t do anything right now
Dreams are said to come from thoughts in the unconscious mind.
If these dreams represent my thoughts
I’m in big trouble.
They make me a monster
I’m afraid to go to sleep because I’m afraid of myself.
So I just don’t sleep.
If I don’t sleep
I don’t dream
It’s that simple.
Sometimes, I’m scared I’ll die in my sleep.
Maybe that’s why I have nightmares.
Nothing is worse than watching yourself kill your friends
Family,
People you love
Soul mate
Watching them die
Watching you kill them
Your own hands
I’m stuck
And I can’t move
These nightmares
Will
Kill
Me.
