Nilanjana Poem by Ruta Mohapatra

Nilanjana

Rating: 5.0

The name escaped softly
From his lips along with a sigh
He has forgotten where he heard it
He has forgotten when he heard it

Why have names such power
To attach themselves permanently
To some corner of our memory?
He pondered as he worked

Trying to blink away the mist
That seems to be associated
With that beautiful name
Clouding his eyes and mind

Well, he has come a long way
He thought, along a dusty road
That seems to go on and on
With that name stuck on his mind

Let it stay there for a little longer
Let it stay till the road ends
And the curtain lifts on all the
Mysteries of the world
