No Answer - Poem by Andy Brookes

Bedlam's bell rings,
life changes,
fills spaces,
empties emotion.
captured snarls.
mad muttering minds
utter sparse words
trapped in brick
bald babbling's of Babylon.

restless thoughts
bay at heels.
chasing torpid dreams
corridors concertina
collapse inwards.

in the hot hours of midnight.
sound coils around ears
i wake,
traffic rumbles,
air pollutes.
acid rain falls,
black lurid tears drip,
trembling leaves.

i almost touch the 'what'
it disappears
in morning mist
leaving me empty,
madness drifts away.
