No change since long
Where lives are in danger!
Where people suffer with hunger!
We have lot more to perform
And finally form nation
Where basic different lies?
We have kept country with lies in tact
We gave nation one slogan
"Unified India with one nation"
The country was partitioned
And many states preferred an option
Still uncertainty prevailed
The concept for free choice failed
We inherited trouble from legacy
Both parts remained intact with poverty
With hatred and jealousy in heart
We failed with positive start
Later part is more defeating
The politicians showed no interest in combating
With illiteracy, poverty and cast elimination
The result being we are where we were at the time of partition
The past 70 years have shown no change in basic culture
Poor have remained poor and drown trodden seems forever
Some piece meal offers are made most of the wealth cornered
Main issues still exist there and peace is endangered
It is so hard to make any progress while we are inundated with the capitalist mindset. That being said, i still admire the rich and amazing culture of India. I think that India has really the seeds, perhaps more than other nations, to create a loving society based on kindness and non-violence. The road to such a society is long and progress may be extremely slow, but something deep inside of me is believing that this is where the world is heading. Very thought provoking poem, well written.
