No More Big Dog Poem by Rob Lamberton

No More Big Dog

The Dog Star shone bright that night
I howled a dogpile at those in sight
A dog-sized man yelled back smelly eh
Betraying the heat of that long dog day

Another in need of some mad-dog weed
Spasmodically barked up my tree
Dog paddle you may but I'll have my way
No dog wrench my hope can dissuade

Next evening at dog watch a couple of gents
Both wearing a dog-tooth sash
Dog gone you they say as I brush them relents
On the trail through the worn dog grass

This doggerel be done my fight will be won
On this day like a hot dog iron
I took a dog leg and quickened my pace
Fleeing self and this doggedly race
