No More Lies Poem by Concetta Salter

No More Lies

With a smile so sweet,
And a voice filled with trust,
I was deceived,
By the one that I love.

Oh sure he seemed perfect.
But no, he still lied.
I guess I deserved it,
For being so blind.

I still can not face it.
The lies and the frauds.
I wish I had sensed it.
I’m glad that he’s gone.

It’s still hard to follow,
The reasons he lied.
But I will not wallow,
Cause I will survive.

It’s not that I’m dying.
It’s not that at all.
It’s just that his lying,
Has caused me to fall.

And someday I’ll rise.
Rise and be tall.
I won’t fall for lies.
Not his, none at all.
