Today July 4,2020, many people are going out to celebrate America's Freedom Day. But for me and all those of my heritage, there is no need to celebrate.See for me and mines our ancestors were not free.For 89 more years, we suffered in the bonds of slavery.We were not citizens, we were property.And to drive this point home on March 6,1865, the supreme court of this nation said as much when Dred Scott sued to be free.So blast your fireworks and let the bands play all those patriotic songs.While I and my people sit and contemplate how on America's freedom day we have no need to celebrate.
