No Time For Time Poem by Paul Brookes

No Time For Time

I remember the exact timestood still.
the clock stopped like your heart.
white on white on white
the sheets that draped the catafalque
of your hospital bed.

I remember the time the earth stopped turning
when it ceased to be safe
and I floated off weightless
hanging by an umbilical
which you then cut.

I remember the time laughter ceased
when greyness swept in on a tidal wave of grief
washing away the sun, the moon and the stars
and no anchor could be found

I remember when the earth swallowed you
and time stood still
and the earth stopped turning
and I floated off
and I was lost
and happiness ceased
and no anchor could be found.

yes I remember the exact time, time stopped.
