No Time To Regret Poem by Samantha Torrez

No Time To Regret

Rating: 5.0

Your drunken mind.
Your breath so rank.
Your thoughts are slow.
Your actions, fast.
I wonder what you were thinking.
Do you regret?
You have no time to regret as you open the car door
Not noticing our speed of 64.
No time to regret laying hands on my mom
Who else is there to love you?
The kids you've ignored & abused?
No time to regret yelling in my face as my tears come down,
Who else will respect you.
You're the last man,
I try, to let into my life & hurt me.
So many times, sadly, I try to forget you.
You've no time to regret as you pack your filthy bags & drive your drunken self out of town.
No time to regret as you say goodbye to the only family that loved you.
No time.
As your hands flee upon bottles,
glasses running to your lips.
Your fist held high,
I wish figuratively.
Curse words bleeding out your mouth.
No time for regret as I wish for better as my mothers tears hit the floor.
No time.
I'm the strength now,
as you walk so weak.
Holding up my family's broken hearts.
At 15 I turn out to be,
much more than you'll ever be.
No time left for regret.
