No Wonder Poem by Peter S. Quinn

No Wonder

In ancient halls where whispers softly dwell,
The cultures weave their tapestries of pride,
Through marble veins and storied stones they tell,
Of kings and gods, in grandeur they abide.

No wonder then, the echoes of conceit,
In golden halls where shadows play and hide,
With every sculpted form and grand elite,
Their echoes linger, through the ages wide.

Yet in the silence, something deeper stirs,
A humble truth beneath the gilded lie,
For every crown, a fleeting life incurs,
And every empire fades beneath the sky.

No wonder now, we see beyond the veil,
The ancient pride, a tale of hearts grown frail.
