Non-Binary Poem by Poetic Daughter

Non-Binary

Rating: 5.0

You make me wear a dress causing me to feel so distressed.
You want me to look like a female but I do not. When I say I'm not a male either you look so distraught.
I am Non-binary my pronouns are they/them. I am not masculine I am not femme.
I am Non-binary and I am proud. I am Non-binary and I will shout it out loud.
I love who I am, I don't care what others say. Those who don't accept me can leave, those who do can stay.
Please don't misgender me even if you don't like it. Please don't say who I am is wrong and call me a misfit.
I am Non-binary and if you don't accept me then I don't care. Why does it matter to you if I want to cut my hair?
Why does it matter to you if I'm not a girl or a boy? I'm not sorry if who I am doesn't bring you joy.
I don't care what you say cause I won't change anyway.
I am Non-binary please respect that. I am Non-binary and you will never get the 'old me' back.

Our culture measures everything, setting unrealistic goals. Its all foolish nonsense, stay strong.
