Nostalgia Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Nostalgia

Nostalgia

As it was then
Chalks removed
Taxi to run-up area
Complete the heck list
Runway, permission clear
Copilot’s help, forward throttle:
Speed “eighty and ninety and take off’
“Gear, flap, V.O.R., TACAN” and so on,

I fly on the wings of my senses.
Sit on window-side, eyes see, I hear
Skin exposed to the sun, U.V. and heat
I smell the trees, like afternoons proceed

No more I am here
Not in York University
I am not in Toronto, Canada
I am a little boy in our Fesharak
The child dying to be silly and sleep
